Don't Let Bad Building Materials Make You Sick
Learn About Your Rights.
Attorneys are representing victims of bad drywall, as seen on sites like MSNBC, which may be causing corrosion and health problems. If you suspect that you have bad drywall, you should get it tested to see if it is foreign-made and contains chemicals that don't belong in it.
Toxic drywall may be in your house if it was built or remodeled between 2004 and 2006. Tainted plasterboard and sheetrock containing sulfur compounds was used in new home construction, hurricane repair in Florida, and flood damage restoration in Louisiana and Mississippi. This Chinese made drywall contained contaminants including fly ash and compounds that become released in humid conditions. In southern states, drywall problems have become apparent and are accompanied by a rotten egg smell, blackened copper wiring, and damaged air conditioning coils. Picture frames, coins, and other items containing copper are more likely to turn black. People have also reported breathing and health problems related to toxic Chinese Drywall.
Chinese drywall testing and removal is done by specialists in many states where this sheetrock has been sold. If the drywall is found to be contaminated, there are plaster removal and replacement contracting specialists who are certified in removal and remediation of the offending sheetrock. Some homebuilders like Lennar homes have already begun replacing defective drywall. In other states, lawsuits and potential class actions are underway via lawyers, class action attorneys, and state politicians who are seeking relief for the use of defective building materials.
Notes and Special Information
Special note: Not all Chinese made drywall is toxic, and a good deal of imported drywall is safe. Always get tests done to determine whether you may have a claim.
